Prado, a day well spent

The Prado museum of art in Madrid is a very nice place to visit and you can very well spend at least the better part of a day there. If the weather is hot its halls provide coolness and if it is chilly or wet outside you can take shelter there and warm yourself with a tasty soup and a glass of claret in the canteen. In the premises you have thousands of paintings at your disposal mainly from Flemish, Italian, French, and Spanish masters. Prado has for example a substantial Goya collection spanning the different periods in his life. As I mentioned before the restaurant is very nice and there is also a well assorted gift shop where you can buy high-quality prints of many of the paintings in the Prado collection, on paper or on a kind of structured fabric.
